Chick-O-Meter

It's important to look out for recognised higher welfare labels if you are buying meat or other animal products.

Our Chick-O-Meter (below) provides a quick and easy guide on how a chicken has been reared, including whether it was a healthier slower-growing breed, lived indoors or outdoors, had access to daylight and was able to perch, peck and play.

Be aware that phrases such as 'trusted farms', 'trusted farmers', 'butcher's choice' and 'reared with care' do not have a legal definition you can rely on.
